Away from the hustle and bustle surrounding the release of his three
singles, "Artiste extraordinare" as he calls himself on his Twitter
handle has unmasked the inspiration behind one of his debut
singles..."Love Letter."

Nigerian Idols winner, Moses Obi-Adigwe recently released his
anticipated debut singles, "Love in the air", "Number one" and "Love
Letter" which has been getting a lot of airplays.

In an exclusive interview on the Lekki Peninsula, "Teddy Bear Moses"
as he was fondly called by the Idols judges revealed that each song
came from different situations but more related to his personal
experiences.  

 

How would your friends describe Moses Obi-Asigwe?

 I’ve got my crazy side. I’ve got my nice guy side. I am sure many of them will say I am someone they know. I have always got their back.  I am always there for the people like them.

Inspiration, they say is the soul of music. Music basically revolves round it. As a singer, what influences your music and debut singles?

Well, my music is influenced by different things. But for these songs, i think it was just everything around me and personal experiences in a way... each song came from a different thing.

 ‘’Love in the Air’’ is a happy feely song, and I was in a very giddy mood when I wrote it.

‘’Love Letter’’ was, i had a crush on someone and I just so much thought it would be nice to write her a love letter. It was just me putting myself in that position of being way back in secondary school or primary school. That thing you did. It’s like ’’how do you tell a kid while in primary school, It’s kind of like ‘’I like you, do you like me back?’’ So that was how ‘’Love Letter’’ came about.

Then with “Number One”, i was imagining what it would feel like to be in a very serious relationship. I put myself in such a position where I would imagine what things would come from being in a very serious relationship, falling in love and all that kind of being in a very serious relationship, and number one came about.

In my mind, I could feel the feelings, I could feel the emotions and from that point, I wrote it.

How did music discover you? When did you start singing?

One thing I have always said, I think music has always been had me right from when I was a baby, it has always been a constant thing in my life.

"This study offers the promise of a major new tool for understanding the causes of major developmental disorders of the brain ... as well as testing possible treatments," said Paul Matthews, a professor of clinical neuroscience at Imperial College London, who was not involved in the research but was impressed with its results.
Zameel Cader, a consultant neurologist at Britain's John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, described the work as "fascinating and exciting".

PARANOIA? Police nab man recording arrest of okada rider

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a medical representative, Gregory Muonylilo, for allegedly video recording policemen who were arresting a commercial motorcyclist.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect was arrested at the Amuwo Odofin area of the state by policemen attached to Area E Command.

The policemen were said to have attempted to arrest a commercial motorcyclist for breaking the traffic law, while the suspect was recording the incident.

The suspect’s brother, Onyeka, said, “Apparently the policemen set up a checkpoint in front of his office yesterday (Monday) and were harassing okada riders. He started recording it

“The policemen saw him and became agitated. They collected his phone and left.”

“They came back around 4pm, arrested him and took him to their station.

Niger State Police Command has arrested a man, Saliu Lawal, 25, for allegedly raping a three-year old girl.

The incident was said to have occurred on Friday August 23, 2013. It was learnt that the suspect, who was a next door neighbour to the parents of the victim, lured the girl into the premises of a primary school and raped her.

Sources told our correspondent that the little girl’s cries attracted passersby, who caught Saliu in the act.

It was further learnt that as soon as the suspect sighted them, he attempted to flee but was apprehended by the concerned neighbours and handed over to the police at Chanchaga Division.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Richard Oguche, said,  “Rape is a capital offence and investigation into this case is almost completed.

JIGAWA DEPUTY SPEAKER DIES IN TRAGIC ROAD CRASH

Jigawa state was yesterday covered by a dark cloud following the death
of two prominent politicians, Deputy speaker, State House of Assembly,
Honourable Inuwa Sule Udi and former Commissioner of Information,
Alhaji Salisu Ibtahim Dandoka.
The deceased politicians died on Thursday night Thursday August 15th
along with driver, Mala Mas'ud Ringim in an accident along Kano-
Ringim road while returning to the late dep. Speaker's Kano home
during the heavy down pour.
He died at the age of 52 and he is survived by two wives and many
children. While the former Commissioner in the State Ministry of
Education and Information during Ex-Governor Saminu Turaki's regime,
Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Dandoka died after a brief illness at the Malam
Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. The deceased Deputy Speaker, Inuwa Sule
and Alhaji Salisu Dandoka will be buried in their home towns Ringim
and Kazaure according to Islamic rites.

 

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigations into the mysterious death of a 39-year-old trader, Sylvanus Okoye, who was discovered without his penis in a pool of blood at his house.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the indigene of Abidi, Umu Ochi, Anambra State, was found dead two weeks after he was last seen by neighbours.

His corpse was said to have been discovered after a foul odour engulfed the premises of the house, located at Ezemegbu Drive, Okota.

It was learnt that on Thursday, neighbours forced the door to his apartment open and the corpse was discovered.

The victim's brother, Paul, also a trader, said neighbours called to inform him that his brother had not been seen for some days.

He said, "I was called by the landlord that they have not seen my brother for some time. They said a stranger dropped his phone and house key with the security guard.

"When I got here, we opened the door to his flat. We saw his bloated body, with a rope tied on his neck. There was a mortar, pestle and a knife on the bed. Obviously he was murdered.

"We are confused now; we have reported the matter at Okota Police Station. They have collected the knife and pestle. What I am craving  now is justice. Police should investigate this matter and prosecute all involved.

"We were told that the security guard at their house was not around on that fateful day, so a certain man dropped the key to my brother's house and his telephone with a female trader in front of the house. The guard told us that he knew the person who dropped the key."

PUNCH Metro learnt that the guard and the trader had been arrested by the police.

The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone.

She said, "On Thursday morning, the landlord of the building, Amaechi Nwosu, reported at the Okota Police Division that his tenant, who was a bachelor, was found dead in his flat. Policemen went to the scene and noticed that he was killed in a mysterious manner as his penis had been cut off.

"Before the corpse was discovered, there had been attempts by the neighbours to force the door open. It was at that point that the security guard opened up that the key was with him. He said someone had given the key and the man's telephone to a trader and the trader handed it over to him.

"The security guard and the trader have been arrested and are being questioned as they never bothered to inform anybody that they were with the key prior to now."

Norway's PM goes undercover as taxi driver

It's funny but it's true; Strange but a fact!

Disguised in sunglasses and a taxi driver's uniform, Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg pretended to be a taxi driver to get closer to Norwegian voters in Oslo.

The charade, which forms part of Stoltenberg's re-election campaign, was filmed and the footage released on Sunday.

Stoltenberg told daily newspaper VG that the aim of the exercise was to find out what people really think.

"If there is one place where people say what they really mean about most things, it is in a taxi. Right from the gut," he told VG.

Stoltenberg has been the Norway's prime minister for the past eight years and believes he will stick with his day job.

"I think the nation and Norwegian taxi passengers are best served if I am the prime minister and not a taxi driver," he told VG.
